Bones Shaft and distal end of tibia

3 borders (anterior, interosseous, medial). 3 surfaces (medial, lateral, posterior). Anterior and medial borders and medial surface are subcutaneous. Interosseous border is connected to interosseous border of fibula by interosseous membrane. Posterior surface is marked by soleal line.

Medial malleolus.

Fibular notch.

Shaft and distal end of fibula

Medial surface. Lateral surface. Posterior surface.

Medial crest.

Lateral malleolus.

Malleolar fossa.

Interosseous membrane of leg

Anterior tibiofibular ligament. Posterior tibiofibular ligament.

Posterior compartment of leg Muscles

Superficial group

Gastrocnemius

2 heads: Medial head. Lateral head.

Calf.

Calcaneal tendon.

Plantaris

Soleus

Attachments: It originates from posterior aspect of head and neck and upper shaft of fibula. It originates from soleal line and adjacent medial border of tibia. It is attached to a ligament between the attachments to tibia and fibula.

Deep group

Popliteus

Flexor hallucis longus

Flexor digitorum longus

Tibialis posterior

Arteries Popliteal artery

Anterior tibial artery

Posterior tibial artery

2 major branches: Circumflex fibular (peroneal) artery. Fibular (peroneal) artery.

Perforating branch.

Veins

Nerves Tibial nerve


Branches: Muscular branches: to muscles of posterior compartment of leg. Two cutaneous branches: Sural nerve. Medial calcaneal nerve.
