post insertion complains

Classification of post denture insertion problems:

A- Complaints about comfort of denture 1- sore spot 2- burning sensation 3-redness 4- pain in TMJ 5- tongue and check bitting 6- nausea and gagging 7- deafness 8- fatigue of muscles of mastication

B- Complaints about function of the denture:

1- instability or poor fit 2- interference include: A- when swelling B- clicking C- Complaints about esthetic: 1- fullness under the noise 2- depressed naisio labial sulcus 3- too much of teeth exposed 4- artificial look

D- Complaints about phonetics:

1- whistle on s sound 2- lisp on s sound 3- indistinct TH and T sound 4- T sound like TH 5- F and V sound indistinct

Pain: causes

1- over extension of the border 2- poor fit or rough surface 3- incorrect centric relation ship 4- excessive vertical dimension 5- inadequate relief of genial tubercle and mylohayoid ridge

Loose denture: causes

1- posterior palatal sel not successfully made 2- lingualy placed posterior teeth 3- labialy placed mandibular anterior teeth 4- occlusal descripensy 5- poor retention 6- in accurate impression making

Faulty esthetic:

1- over support or under support denture 2- altered vertical dimension 3- un realistic expectation


Defective speech:
1- increased vertical dimension 2-deficioncy of palatal contour 3- posterior palatal seal incorrectly made 4- thick lingual flange or restricted tongue space

Inefficacy:

1- worn of teeth 2- zero degree posterior teeth 3- lack occlusal balance 4- occlusal level high

Nausea and gagging:

1- over extension posterior border of maxillary denture 2- thick posterior border 3- loose denture 4- un common relief

Fibrous hyperplasia:

1- continuous wearing or ill fitting denture 2- usually painless Microbial infection: 1- poor oral or denture hygiene maintenance 2- diabetic patient

Uncommon complaints:

1- whistling: high vault palate 2- ear pain : TMG problem 3- loss of test 4- food or saliva under the denture: insufficient border 5- drooling saliva :in adequate vertical dimension 6- allergy :residual monomer of acrylic resin 7- cheek biting : lack horizontal over lap, decreased vertical dimension, buccal placement of teeth
