Disorders of the Corneal Shape
KeratoconusConical corneal deformity
asymmetricSporadic
Progressive disease could stop at any sytage
Presentation with impaired vision dur to astigmatism
and myopia
Treatment:
--spectacles--CLs(contact lenses)
--keratoplasty
Acute hydrops----results from rupture in Descemet's membrane and acute leakage of fluid into the corneal stroma and epithelium, this causes a sudden drop in V.A. with discomfort and watering.
Acute episodes are initially treated with hypertonic saline and
patching. But keratoplasty should never be attempted during the edematous phase.
