Is a flagellated protozoan that infect the duodenum and small intestine (jejunum & upper ileum). Range from asymptomatic colonization to acute or chronic diarrhea and malabsorption.

Prevention and Control

• Proper water treatment that include a combination of chemical therapy and filtration; the cyst resist to the chlorination.
• Good personal hygiene.
• Proper cleaning and cooking of food.
• No prophylactic drug or vaccine is available.
