Weil’s disease

Zoonotic Caused by leptospira species Leptospires can enter through: intact or cut skin or m.m. by animal bite or Prolong immersion in contaminated water.

Clinical features: I. P 1-2 weeks Bacteremic : fever, myalgia and sever headache with photophobia and conjuctival congestion Aseptic meningitis Icteric leptospirosis (weil,s disease) fever, hemorrhage, jaundice and renal impairment 4. Pulmonary syndrome : hemoptysis , lung patchy and respiratory failure

Diagnosis

Leucocytosis, thrombocytopenia Abnormal LFT High CPK Definitive DX : Culture & PCR agglutination test

Treatment

Doxycycline for a week or penicillin, cefriaxone J-H reaction may occure 2. Supportive therapy ; fluid , blood ,dialysis
