Hydrocephalus. Obstruction of the flow of cerebrospinal fluid has caused the ventricles to expand, with a resultant increase in intracranial pressure. Obstructive hydrocephalus must be distinguished from hydrocephalus ex-vacuo, in which the ventricles expand to compensate for a loss of brain parenchyma.
